I’m still firmly in the hater camp on the iPad, but there’s no doubt that it’s a revolutionary entry into the tablet market – I really don’t think there’s much room for contention on that front. The question is whether or not anything will come of a revolution in a market people have steadily ignored.

  2. If Will didn’t enjoy the first season of LOST, he probably won’t like rest of the show until the crazy time travelling season.

  3. Not gonna lie, I’m considering buying a Kin TWOm off contract when I’ve got the money. AND I’M NOT EVEN ON VERIZON. I’ve lost it…

  4. Awesome Podcast guys! I bought a 2011 Escape this year and me and the wife love it, the guy should just turn blutooth off on his iphone. It seems like the sync is kind of weird with stuff like that, it is not a perfect software yet.

    I missed whitta!

  5. You can save a shitload of money with coupons, and you don’t have to be one of those insane creepers from that show. Just check out your store’s weekly ads, look for manufacturer coupons, and shop smart. Yeah you’ll be “That Guy” in line, but fuck off I’m saving hella grip.

  6. Was disappointed there was no joke about Chloe “Testifying” the iPad or similar.

Glad someone corrected Gary on Bud too.

In other news, The Mega Drive Sonic games were awesome, you’re all wrong for saying otherwise.

  7. Ugh, amazing that with the bevy of tech news this week, nearly every story somehow got redirected into fellating Apple. Never mind that 3DS sales have taken off since the price cut, the real story is that Nintendo should just give up and make games for iOS. I don’t know why the tech press as a whole has to make involve Apple somehow for it to be worth talking about. I dumped TWiT for this very reason and loved This Is Only A Test because they gave everything its due as it stood on its own but everything now has to be a comparison to Apple and usually, a reinforcing of how Apple is always superior to everyone else, even when they aren’t. It’s a shame.

And yes, I know I can unsubscribe to the show if I don’t like it etc. etc. etc. Doesn’t mean I can’t provide feedback. People never know how to evolve if they’re only told good things.

  8. The discussion on Nintendo putting games on iOS was a weird one. Obviously the Tested guys and many others want Nintendo to do that, and it’s nice to want things, but it seems so extremely unlikely. A lot of things would have to change first. Nintendo is probably still in a very good place financially, and will be for a while.

Fake outtakes was awesome this week. Gary’s gas pump story had a heartwarming conclusion, i gotta say.

  9. Fake outtakes was awesome this week. Gary’s gas pump story had a heartwarming conclusion, i gotta say.

Yeah, the fake outtakes this week were among the best ever. 🙂

  10. I kind of cringed during the “Nintendo should publish on Apple hardware” discussion. That should never happen unless Apple decides to make a dedicated handheld that isn’t overpriced out the wazoo. I want Nintendo to stay on dedicated gaming systems as long as possible, thanks.

  11. All printers are shit. It’s not just HP.

I usually don’t agree with you but this I can get behind.

  12. Norms stories of smuggling vodka into a music festival made me pine for Glastonbury. Best festival in the world. There is absolutely no segregation between the camping areas and the stages. You can pitch your tent within earshot of any stage, you can take a case of beer down to any stage you want too. Always has stellar headline acts, always has the most interesting sideshows. Probably why its been going for 40 years and probably why 150,000+ people decide to camp on a farm not  far from Stonehenge every summer.

  13. I could only see certain DS games (as Gary said) working on an iPhone. Most games that are on Virtual Console would be a complete disaster on a device with no buttons. Any game past NES would be a bitch to control.

You guys also mention how you would buy a $30 attachment for your iPhone to play these games. I bet you wouldn’t. No one wants to carry around a phone accessory with them at all times.

Ultimately, Apple doesn’t care about games. Sure they’ll have nice way of delivering them through the app store and game center is cool, but they would never start developing game or buy developer to make games. They just don’t care. Or at least the care when other people do it for them and they get a 30% cut.

  14. Is there a reason that any time there’s a discussion about cutting the cable that OTA is completely ignored? Are antennas just often forgotten or is there some other reason? You can still get The Today Show and some sports without cable.

I also wanted to agree with Will that if the cable companies don’t like something, I’m probably for it. I know a guy who works for one of the big cable companies. He’s one of the guys that’s in charge technology stuff as it relates to content. He says he basically draws a salary to be told over and over that “no, we don’t want to change anything.”

  15. I love these guys and became a member last week but the Budweiser thing is total nonsense. As sb. already stated above Budvar is a city and Budweis is the German version of the name. The history of the brand is a fascinating story with many twists and law suits. It is a really good brew by the way as I found out when I went there.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budweiser_Budvar_Brewery#Trademark_dispute

A second blunder, as much as it hurts me to say it, is the thing about Japanese comp. that don´t apologize. Actually Japan is a country where apologizing has been refined to an art and can in fact save you from being penalized if done right! Just watch the clip of the Sony executives bowing.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Offp7Cgm_yk

The angle of the bow and the length thereof was highly formalized.

Also the Tepco management finally went to the barracks where the refugees are dwelling and threw themselves on the floor.

The worst companies in that field are German ones and BP I would venture to say…

  16. No, Apple doesn’t really do that yet. Yeah it’s fairly priced, but the Touch is not a dedicated handheld for gaming. It just happens to have iOS games, which aren’t exactly the same thing as what dedicated handhelds offer.

  17. Fake outtakes was awesome this week. Gary’s gas pump story had a heartwarming conclusion, i gotta say.

Yeah, the fake outtakes this week were among the best ever. 🙂

I just listened to it and that story made me laugh so hard that my face started to hurt and I had trouble breathing.;)
