  1. Rolento just replied to your comment:

Yeah, nothing here for me.  I’ve no interest in any of Apple’s closed and proprietary systems and never have.  I have a few coworkers who are high-ranking automatons in Uncle Steve’s Clone Army, (one of them is actually that single guy that bought an Apple TV) and I’m sure they’ll attempt to shove their iPads in everyone’s faces and sing joyous praises like they did with their iPhones, but there just isn’t anything there for me to appreciate about either.

I disagree that Apple reinvented the MP3 player market.  I believe that they were simply the first people to actually market an MP3 player to the masses.  iPods weren’t then and never have been the best player available.

  2. i would let people plug in a powerstrip for sure.

unless i was using the socket for something that would die when unplugged, like a lamp for instance.

thanks for the early upload !

  3. I’m surprised that the story of the FCC pretty much telling AT&T no about buying T-Mobile wasn’t talked about this week.

  4. depending if we’re around to record a podcast on the week between christmas and new years, episode 100 of This is Only a Test will land on either the week right before CES or during CES 2012.

  5. Us retail workers have to be at work stupid early on Thanksgiving. Oh well, that’s what you get for working for the corporate machine.

  6. Wow, will hates the fire, hates stargate and thinks sweet potatoes and marshmallows are white trash!? Not sure what to think of him anymore! 😛 😉

  7. I simply cannot Gary get away with stating that Thanksgiving is “uniquely” American. The Canadian Thanksgiving history goes back at least as far as the American – if not further. Thanksgiving is as American as it is Canadian.

  8. Perhaps he meant uniquely American in the same way that making good cars is uniquely European? America is a continent made up of multiple nations and people from the United States don’t have a monopoly on being American, even if we often use American as a shorthand for citizens of that country.

  9. I definitely don’t dispute your standards–the browser shouldn’t hang, websites should work, and you shouldn’t have to do any tweaks to the browser’s functionality to make it work. In my experience, I have yet to have the browser hang or have any real problems using a website. I don’t know if we just used different websites or if for some reason my Fire is especially good or yours was especially bad, or what, but it’s surprising to hear you’ve experienced so many problems.

  10. People don’t return books? What kind of asses are you friends with?
I avoid ebooks because they are still too expensive. I get most of my books used, so the prices are already better than an Amazon copy (paper or e), even factor in sales tax. Then I get to resell the book for a little on the back end. And that doesn’t factor in the cost of the reader (which is more like a semi-annual fee since it’ll break someday).

  11. I’m the dude with the first question (about switching displays to the TV) and I just want to update saying that Pinnacle Game Profiler didn’t seem to do the trick, it only manages controller settings AFAIK. Windows+P seems to be working, and now my only issue is that the PC doesn’t switch the audio output to HDMI automatically every time. After listening to what you had to say about it on the Bombcast, Will, that seems par for the course.
