  1. I 100% agree with Jeremy about TLG. I was more heartbroken by TLG than any of the prequels. No matter how horrible the prequels were (and they were very bad) they felt like Star Wars. TLG is messing with established characters in an established universe.

The tone was so wrong on top of all of the physics inconsistencies. I have specific complaints but it’s hard to get in to anything without entering the spoiler zone…

A small sample: The humor was out of place and overdone. The in universe physics were wrong. Characters withhold information because “reasons” to move the plot. Why would they include the dice from the Falcon other than to get you to see the Solo movie? It all felt like a money grab to me. Any questions you have will be answered…. In the book, or in the game, or in the comics.

  2. Regarding your Superman comments about his powers changing over time-

The author of Superman wasn’t drawing from 65 years of in universe history. If there were hundreds of other Supermen who couldn’t fly and then all the sudden the Superman could fly just to serve a plot wouldn’t that feel cheap?

  3. I did not like the scene that is being referenced, but I think a lot of the “It’s way outside of the realm of previous possibility” or “It looks hookie” may be a stretch. The amount of physical force it would take to physically move in that way would be minimal due to the current forces acting upon the thing in question. Also, objects moving through that environment would look real strange. Just look at clips from the international space station. The thing I think is odd is the effects that environment should cause and the rate at which those effects should occur in that environment. That is the area of the whole issue that bugged me. I’ve also heard good ideas for alternative scenes that could “serve the story”.

  4. Yes movies even with major actors can go wrong quite spectacularly. War Hammer must be one the front runners for worst movie of 2017. This weird accent/voice of the main character was so annoyingly abrasive that it took me 7 attempts to finish watching the movie.

Beautifully shot, great story points, good dialogue, fantastic actors throughout but than a main character that fails to be believably menacing or funny to pull of the scathing sarcasm that I guess was reached for to show the blundering idiocy of military control of a foreign society. Must have been a tough challenge for Brat Pitt to expose himself like that.

  5. Last Jedi was like watching a production meeting, effect here, dramatic moment there, oh look an homage, did you get it?, i want to show you scene from a movie I liked, oh over the top humor now .SO MUCH exposition. It was enjoyable but it feels like they needed more time to get it to all fit. We have to accept that SW movies are gonna be like Avengers movies now. This is fan fiction, and it’s ok.

  6. Wow, 1 million tons of chargers alone are trashed every year? Let’s be generous and say they weigh 2 ounces a piece. That’s the equivalent of every person on earth throwing away about 2.25 chargers per year. Are we really that wasteful, or is charger technology just becoming obsolete that quickly? Makes me wonder about worldwide quality and accessibility of electronics recycling programs.

  7. Formal request for new Tested shirt design: “You’re the meat in a Chan sandwich, Jeremy”. Featuring 8-bit Tested style heads of Norm, Jeremy, and Danica.

  8. I’d argue that smartphones aren’t ergonomic period, and therefore Norm’s point that holding a phone vertically for video is invalid. Phones are held vertically becaues that’s how the UX etc is designed, but it’s still a thin rectangle. It’s uncomfortable to hold regardless of if it’s vertical or horizontal.

  9. Some of my favorite sci-fi of the last few years were some obscure Syfy shows – Dark Matter and Continuum, which I saw on Netflix. They were trying to do something new and interesting… not remakes of 40 year old content. It’s kind of interesting to see young people get into the new Star Wars characters but… it kind of feels weird too. Like… shouldn’t there be some new franchise by now? When I was a kid I wasn’t waiting around for a bunch of re-makes of movies from the 1930s. Star Wars itself was an integration of things from the 1930s and a whole bunch of other stuff. Not literally trying to reboot exactly the same characters from shows in the 1930s. I dunno.

  10. NIce podcast. Youtube vertical video has been available for some time, unless it hasn’t been on ios. Haven’t used it in some time.

  11. I feel every complaint about something not making sense in TLJ has been covered in one of the new cannon books. Haldol was cover extensively and set up as one of Leia’s oldest friends from the original days of the Rebelian in the book Leia. If you have a problem with the new cannon, I’m sorry, it happened, it’s the story and it’s actually tightly controlled, unlike the now ledgands books.

Ok rant over and I always appreciate having Danica’s point of view on the show, a good thing to throw in occasionally.
