  1. when i was a kid my brother and i saved allowance for months to buy all of the Destructicon Transformers needed to create the giant robot that you could get by connecting the other 5 together.

within maybe a day or two i realized “wow…. this probably wasnt worth it”. i can’t even remember the name of the thing now, nor can i be troubled to even search it it. A life changing economic lesson, maybe there is a direct line between that experience and my current lack of credit card debt.

  2. The rocket firing Boba Fett was part of a promotion prior to the release of Empire Strikes Back (if I remember correctly). Boba Fett at that point had been part of the animated section of the christmas special. If you sent Kenner a number of proofs of purchase they would send you a Boba Fett figure. As a kid who kept all the backing boards and boxes for Star Wars toys it was a goldmine. I sent in enough for about 7 or 8 I think. Eventually Kenner sent out the non-firing Boba Fetts and I think I received about 4 of them. When I played the Boba brothers were the bumbling bad guys teaming up with the Stormtroopers. The cool looking non-human types were always the good guys.

  3. One point of correction on the battery throttling. It isn’t throttling you only to make your battery last longer, it is to prevent crashes from the SOC pulling more current than the battery can supply.

I have a 5s I use for development testing, and it does not have this feature. There are some apps that will crash the phone and logs seem as though it is shutting down due to spiking the SOC speed. I’m hoping this firmware update that shows more battery info will give a more clear indication in the logs that the crash is being caused by battery power.

  4. Jeremy, you probably know this already but if you want a more sane option to collectible card games for your kid I recommend Netrunner. It’s much cheaper to collect. You can also try it and play it online for free at http://www.jinteki.net The game has a bit of a learning curve but it’s well worth the time.

An online version of Legend of the Five Rings (L5R) is also in development. You can find it here: https://jigoku.online/

I always like to hear Will Smith on the podcast so that’s who gets my vote. He can talk about Netrunner and perhaps you can convince him to bring back A Bunch of Dads. Or maybe you can bring it back!

  5. Netrunner is a ton of fun! I find the intricacies are a little above my 7 year old, but the game has super high replayability.

  6. Seriously “It will be the most powerful rocket launched from this planet.” How can u forget about the Saturn V? And the russian Energia rocket was also more powerful.

  7. “This would be perfect for Bunch of Dads Podcast, too bad that doesn’t exist”

Been waiting so long for Bunch of Dads to get a new episode…I guess I should stop waiting 🙁

  8. get him into organized play or a constructed format.

It’ll either get him off of buying packs to crack frivolously or swear him off it forever.

  9. My water comes directly from a spring, about 100m from my house. Absolutely no treatment involved. The water goes through a couple of settlement tanks, to allow sand and grit, and other detritus to settle out, but that is it. And it is some of the best water I have ever tasted, and I have been drinking water for almost my entire life.

  10. Do they put the LifeStraw on the shelf next to LiveWater?

And Kishore, Falcon Heavy is not as powerful by any measure as Saturn V was. The current plan for the BFR will finally beat out the Saturn V, by greater or lesser degrees depending on the measure.
