  1. Interesting podcast Gents. Here is some more info on the TRU business issues for anyone who wants to read more on that. Apparently a lot of private debt management decisions combined with the competition and pricing issues you all mentioned contributed to the bankruptcy.

  2. Interesting little side note, Kenji Lopez-Alt was on the latest episode of Guy’s grocery games. He did an amazing job for his charity, personally I think he should have won.

  3. I have recently started un-following most people on my friends list, so that my wall/stream isn’t full of what friends are (supposedly) doing. It has basically become an update of space and tech stuff, with the odd post from people I actually care about.

  4. Is there a site that does TOS cliff notes for specific companies , because I don’t speak lawyer babble so even if I read it I can’t tell what it says or where it’s limits are. If not maybe that’s a niche someone out there will take up, hint, hint.

  5. I really wonder what the impact of the FB data abuse will be on ethical academic researchers. I imagine Facebook will clamp down heavily on potential research on their users going forward.

  6. Remote Controlled Cars are amazing things for kids and even to someone like me an adult, it is a playing game for me. I do check them on rcjeep.com

  7. As for Toy’s R Us, the fellers have got it spot on this time. I remember back on the old farm on the Great Plains, when I was just knee high to a prairie dog, one day Pa came in with a sly grin on his face, Ma right behind him, and announced to us that we wuz goin to the big city fore to see the Toys ‘Russ

Well, my brothers and sisters and me, we just about bust our britches with excitement. We all scrambled into the horse n’ buggy while Pa put on his Sunday Best suit.. the one with buttons on it. Ma wore the prettiest dress you ever did see. We ain’t been to the city back in those days much, but this was a special occasion.

I didn’t know what to think, Pa said we could each have two bits and go n buy anything we wanted. Well I searched up and down the shelves and me and my brothers decided to pool our money together and get us a bright cherry red bicycle, with a horn that looked like Spider Man’s head. We had never seen Spider Man ‘course, just one time when Timmy Briebecker’s mother invited us to a special birthday party and he put out Spider Man cups. He told us Spider Man was built like a man, but could climb like a Spider. Did you ever hear of such a thing? Tarnation!

Pa, why is the R backways, I said.

Pa told me it was cause in the City they got a different way of doin’ things. All fancy n such. I started spellin my name “Beauregard Я Crump” from then on. With a backsways R. Teacher’s told me to cut it out.. but what did they know! They ain’t never been to no city! Miss Eichenburg ain’t ever even left the county! Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Just that some of us had bigger dreams n such.

Anyways. The cashier woman said they didn’t cept no “bits” for coinage. Pa said land-sakes, what is the world a’ comin to, aint nothing stays the same for long. He pulled out some silver dollars and she had to call the big boss man down from the office. Man they had an office I tell you what, it was up a flight of stairs like some kind of preacher, sitting up there looking down on his flock…

Well the Silver Dollars was OK in the end, and dad was so upset his gout done flared up, so Ma had to drive the horses home. I ain’t never seen her drive much but whoa boy she gets them phillies a racin. I thought we was gonna all spill out the carriage but she reigned em in at the last minute.

Anyways, ain’t gonna be no trips like that no more, what with Toys R Us done gone outta business. Run em clean off, that there Mitt Romney did. I heard he has a binder full of companies he’s wantin to run down into nothing. That’s the way they does things in the big city though.
