Model Behavior: Iron Giant Build, Part 2
Bill and Norm meet back up in Adam shop over a month after they first began work on the Iron Giant garage kit to continue the process of piecing this massive figure together and giving it another layer of paint and grime. With each pass, we’re amazed by how this resin model’s rusted look evolves into something that looks truly old and heavy. (Watch part 1 of this build here in case you missed it!)

I’m so impressed. If you told me it’s a real metal, rusty robot, i’d believe you!
Wow. As someone works in an industrial museum, it could sit next to our hundred-year-old working lathes, millers, and drill presses and blend right in! Really amazing final weathering!

Really cool project.
This is stunning! Wonderful model and an amazing paint/weathering job.
I was thinking the pre-weathered look was pretty good, but the final pass looks sooo much better, really brings it out of the model.
The only downside with these kit making/painting videos, is that the models tend to be long gone 🙁
I bet that was an expensive one (not to mention shipping and customs to the UK), but that would be worth every one of my pennies!
Really awesome build and aging. I’m curious, though, if I’m the only one thinking the garage kit looks… chubby? Especially in that last shot when he’s beside Adam’s toy all the parts just seem a bit out of proportion. This doesn’t make it look bad in any way, but just something that caught my eye.
I easily could have watched you guys do detail work on this piece for an hour, 17 mins is just too short. Maybe just me though. Fantastic build and video none the less. Love what you guys are putting out.
This is one of my favorite Tested builds to date! Great job Norm and Bill! Now if only I could get my hands on one of these kits…
That is Awesome! Thanks!
This turned out so great! The second paint job after the rusting really made it work
Thanks for these couple videos, that was great.
That is so cool! loved how you turned the rust into older looking rust. wish I could build one myself
Does he still sell these kits?
That weathering pass really made it look more metallic. It definitely reminded me of an old rail yard. Fantastic. I’d love to see a small set of photos of it in a naturally lit, neutral environment.
Awesome build, the weathering looks amazing after those washes.
One minor nitpick- He’s missing the “Jaw” bolts!
I realize the build isn’t quite done, but he’s not the Iron Giant without the jaw bolts.
Thanks gang! This was a SUPER fun build. =D
