This is Only a Test 119 – Lick the Baby! – 5/3/2012

On this week’s episode, Gary licks a baby, Will drinks iced coffee, and Norm gets very uncomfortable. All that, plus the Galaxy S III, Blackberry 10, and another episode of fake outtakes.

As a counter point, it isn’t a non-nil expense. Sure those companies have a lot of money and could totally foot the bill, so I actually agree that it’s a shame and their own fault if they don’t. However, setting up the network, upkeep, personnel, storage, licensing and other business relationships to get streaming out to somewhere like say the Netherlands would be very expensive. (Heck Netflix is already straining to get those things to an American audience, constantly battling with license holders and internet providers)

Having said that, it comes down to a matter of your own morals. Personally, I wouldn’t feel bad about pirating things if I was in the situation that you were in, as long as I made some sort of effort to buy the  thing through some legal mean.

  2. I’d love to hear more about the Playbook. I mean shit, like WIll even mentioned, I’m Canadian (and live in the same city as RIM’s headquarters, and I’m almost ready to turn my back on them.

  3. Babies have next to no adaptive immune systems. Licking the babies lets the mother pick up pathogens on the baby. The mother’s immune system handles the pathogen. The antigens on on the pathogens lead the creation of antibodies specific to the pathogen. Those antibodies (Immunoglobulin Gamma antibodies) get transferred to the baby via breastmilk, making the infant capable of surviving until it’s immune system gets strong enough to sustain itself.

  4. Shitting on The Verge is kind of old. The Verge constantly describes itself as more than a tech blog. They want to expand into culture which is pretty obvious. Quitting the internet and writing about it seems to fit in with their style pretty well.

  5. Haven’t watched/listened to TIOAT in a good two weeks. I got 10 minutes into this one and we’re still talking about how 4.65″ phones like the Galaxy Nexus are just too big.

For those of you just joining us and somewhat misinformed, the extra .35″ of the 4.65″ Galaxy Nexus’ (and similar devices such as the HTC One X and Evo LTE) screen vs a 4.3″er is a result of ICS’s software buttons. The back, home, and recent app buttons can fade away to reveal a full 16:9 1280×720 screen. Despite the wider screens, the devices themselves aren’t much larger since there are no hardware buttons.

To be exact, the apparently outlandish difference in overall size of these 16:9 4.65-4.7″ screen devices compared to their 16:10 4.3″ screen competition is really about .2″ in height, give or take a couple hundredths.

  6. I disagree, I personally liked Captain America more than Iron Man, but I know I’m in the minority there.

  7. I loved all the baby talk in this episode!

It made me look at the little tykes (and breasts) in a new way….?
