Flying FPV Drones with Avegant Glyph Headset
Avegant’s Glyph was conceived of as a way to watch movies and play games in a head-mounted display, but its more interesting use is as a FPV viewer for camera-equipped drones. We check out the final production version of the Glyph and test it with the DJI Phantom 3 and Inspire 1 with head-tracking.

I can see the head tracking being nice for scouting locations, setting way points and and testing out angles, but not for doing final takes of things… Seems a little too crude for something like that, but still and awesome tool!
Here we go, reverse Lobot-style
I got to demo an RC car that had a head-tracking FPV camera on it, and it no joke took about 15 seconds to make me full-on nauseated. I could not finish driving a single lap of the little track they had laid out. What’s Norm’s motion sickness threshold like? I’d like to see FPV reviews from someone prone to carsickness, not some Chuck Yeager test pilot with a cast iron inner ear.

Norm is kind of known for getting sick in VR and stuff like that. Watch his vr challenge from oktobercast.
Based upon a slight change in Norm’s voice, it does seem like the nose bridge is pressing down a little firmly. Either that or Norm was getting a bit of a head cold. 🙂 (I guess it doesn’t look like the weather was too friendly either.) Regardless, he was clearly very impressed with the tech.
