Chris Hadfield and Chef Traci Des Jardins Make a Space Burrito

Keeping in mind the challenge of mixing food ingredients in micro-gravity, chef Traci Des Jardins concocts a recipe for spicing up astronaut Chris Hadfield’s meals on board the International Space Station. Commander Hadfield also shares with Jamie and Adam the foods he misses most after spending six months in space.

  1. I am still Amazed you have managed to lock up these videos with Chris, I mean you’d think everyone would have been trying to.

  2. No kidding. He’s been the internet’s Man of the Hour for the past few weeks. What a great idea, and how awesome it is that Will and Norm get to be involved, if somewhat indirectly.

  3. I haven’t had fresh fruit in probably six months as well. But that’s more on me not buying any than the circumstances of where I am at. Still, that’s a pretty cool burrito, and while astronauts may usually just eat one thing after another as he says, it’s probably better for them to make something like this more often to allow them to have some fun while eating.

  4. The space videos are easily among the best Tested has ever done, even though it doesn’t really feel like Tested. Now I want a burrito, which actually looks easier to eat in space.

It is amazing the work Hadfield and NASA does to interact with journalists, schools, websites etc.

Wow. You should really eat more fresh fruit than that. I mean, it’s kinda vital for good health. Also, quite tasty.

Also watching this video basically turned me back to a child, just the joy & excitement of seeing Chris walk about in micro-gravity, & the burrito spinning there & everything. Just…awesome stuff.

  6. I love these segments. I hope the next thing they do is not food though. The spinning space ball game was awesome, do more stuff like that!

  7. Serious question: what are we getting from space? I assume that in the 50s or 60s or whenever, going to space was about figuring out satellites and stuff. What’s the deal with today? All I see is taking pictures of planets and making burritos, which is fun but seems like a total waste of $17.8 billion dollars annually.

  8. Chris Hadfield has been posting on twitter all the tests he’s been going through following his return to earth. Fitness, circulation, vision among others were all examined. As far as I can determine it seems that although we’ve been going to space for quite a while now they’re still finding out more about its effects on the human body which makes sense given the relatively small sample size.

  9. i love how Jamie is just standing there all serious while Adam is just like “He’s In Space!”

  10. It is my understanding that they are doing longer-term testing on the effect of microgravity and cosmic radiation on the human body and a wide range of biological matter. The benefits of this research should be obvious.

  11. Love it. I’d be tearing food up into bite size chunks so I could float around eating the pieces without using my hands.

  12. all these videos he is wearing that watch and it is constantly flopping around on his wrist you would think it would get on his nerves and use some thing like a Velcro band.

That is nothing you should look at the amount of money we give other country’s and the amount fighting useless wars. For once I think this is a good use of my tax dollars. There is so little we truly know about the universe so anytime exploring or striving for science is well spent..
