This Old FX Shop: Zombie Makeup Application!

With the help of friend of Tested Gordon Tarpley, Frank shows us how to apply an ultra realistic zombie makeup using off-the-shelf prosthetics. Here’s how to use glues and paint to make a prosthetic look like it’s apart of someone’s face!

  1. it’s really impressive how much you can believably change the topography of a face by only putting layers on. of course, it’s a simple trick – you just change what the viewer sees as the ‘neutral’ surface, and every pit or cavity in that fake neutral looks like it’s an actual chunk taken out of their face.

i remember seeing stills and promo shots of arnold’s face for terminator 2, with the small but deep-looking wounds that show a metal surface underneath, and articles mentioning how many hours he had to sit in makeup. i must’ve been 8 and tried putting together how they could have possibly taken chunks out of arnold’s face in makeup. i even considered them building up everything around those wounds, but never thought it could be made to look believable.

seeing the sausage being made and come together was a nice trip down memory lane. thanks guys!

  2. Thank you for the video of the “removal”. It was interesting to see the work on putting it all on, and the effort to take it off? Cleaning, washing, rip and tear

  3. Awesome… For some reason the “FaceOff” show just hit the Netherlands, so I am watching all seasons. We are now at season 2016 now, but recently i saw Franks Redemption season. I love to see his artistic skills up close in this video.

  4. Amazing Video! I would love to spend some time on my models here in the theater to do similar stuff. Could it be possible that you provide me/us with a list of the products which has been used for that make up? That would be really great!

    Thank you so much again!

  5. Joined premium yesterday and this was my first video. It was amazing! Fun to watch and really informative.
