  1. Very helpful! Currently dealing with this on some of my 3D prints, just gluing it all roughly for now but soon I’ll have to start the cleanup process before painting. Actually for some pieces I’ll be leaving the glue so it looks like welded metal 🙂

  2. Good tip! Although that’s a lot more money than I’m able to spend right now (just bought a stack of new tools and materials for my workshop). I wouldn’t mind giving friction welding another go at some point, I already have a cheap rotary tool I can use.

  3. What about “solvent” to clean up CA glue? Nail polish remover? Couldn’t you use that to dissolve it where it’s blobby without effecting the joint?

  4. Acetone will also dissolve some plastics so it’s not something you should slather on anything you actually care about unless you know exactly what it is and how it’s going to react.

  5. This is neat!

Is there more detail on how to wipe CA glue up while it’s still wet? I’ve tried that and it usually ends in the rag being glued to the part.

  6. Get some polyethylene “food service” gloves on and wipe with your fingers.

If you’re building up many layers of CA glue as a finish then it can be helpful to pick an older bottle you’ve used for other things before as it will have a much longer open time. The blue paper towels work pretty well for this as long as you work fast, but again, polyethylene gloves are a must. A full-face respirator is also pretty nice if you’re covering large areas as the fumes are pretty hard to take.

  7. Oh lord that poor Vader dome! Took a nasttty fall. If you guys need a replacement, feel free to bug me over at The Workshop!

  8. Thanks for the video Tested Crew! I love this skill sharing, and to prove it here are some tips that where given to me that totally changed my making!

A buddy of mine changed my mold making life by telling me to try isopropyl alcohol on unwanted hot glue. It debonds it from plastic or metal beautifully. It’s been a game changer as I now only need a small stack of styrene to use as walls and a base. I can hot glue everything I need, pour my plaster or silicone and when I’m done a few prays of alcohol and I can reuse everything, nice and clean and no waste, except the glue…

Also there is a super glue debonder, again another friend who build remote control planes turned me on to it. Can’t get the link function to work so if your interested you can find it here or on amazon.
